Nevertheless, according to the released documents, there are several issues, including the concerns of several officials, such as National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell, regarding the "weirdly rushed" appointment of Mandelson, including his association with the late convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, particularly regarding the fact that their relationship continued even after Epstein's conviction in 2008. After his dismissal in late 2025, Mandelson requested "maximum dignity" regarding his dismissal, while the staff of the British government initiated daily welfare checks on him.
